This work is part of a larger exploration on youth. I was drawing from experiences of staying up all night with friends in the dark watching movies on VHS, only going to bed when the sun starts rising and streaming through the blinds. Our sleepovers were there to rescue us from the cold monotony of west coast weather, and the interruption by the sun is surprising as much as it is inevitable. Working from a photo, I build an interior story as I paint.
