The Parade

By Mersini Karkoulas

After dark

Hold a candle

In the window

So the spirits

Pass you by

Leave them treats

On the sill

And wave to them

Goodbye

After dark

Hide your face

So they don't

Slow their pace

After dark

Never peek at

Their horrible parade

They'll keep going

If you will it

And eventually fade

Their time has come

And their time

Has passed

Hope they follow

Your lights

To their grave
